Trunk Music by Michael Connelly

4.0

Harry Bosch is definitely becoming a favourite character and I'm just wondering why I've come to the books 20 years late. Here , back at work after a break he returns to the LAPD homicide division . It's interesting that Connelly writing in the 90's references the poor image of the department after Rodney King ,O J Simpson et al. His first job is as lead with two other detectives when they find a body in the trunk of a Rolls Royce in the early hours, it looks like a professional hit but surprisingly organised crime don't want to know. Harry's investigation takes him back and forth to Las Vegas where he meets some tough guys and an old flame, whilst back in LA he quickly ends up crossing swords as ever with the FBI, and Internal Affairs. As ever his love life seems doomed and he skates close to the wind as he tackles the baddies. A great page turner.
