A Light Most Hateful by Hailey Piper

I completely do not understand the reviews for this book or the rewards. It's very juvenile writing with description so superfluous it's impossible to tell what is even going on. I see reviews say this is a good thing to focus the reader, but let's be honest with each other - if you don't know what's going on in the book you're reading how is that the readers fault?

This book is a perfect example of something I learned in my first year of creative writing in college Literature is complicated stories that reveal truth told in plain language. Bad writing is over complicated language telling you simple story ideas with nothing to give. Guess which side of the fence this book falls on?

The core ideas of the plot are not brand new. I can name 3 modern science fiction movies that would give you this cobbled together fantasy. At no point was I scared or tense or even anxious. I mostly wanted to get through the book to be done with it because it was a draining read. Not for me.
