The Cosmic Serpent: DNA and the Origins of Knowledge by Jeremy Narby

informative inspiring mysterious reflective fast-paced

4.0

The parallels Narby discovers between western molecular science and shamanic knowledge is profound. "Myths" and plant knowledge that have been a part of indigenous cultures (especially in the Amazon) for millennia are now both being confirmed by science as well as helping us to look at the science from a new perspective.

I applaud Narby for going where many other scientists and anthropologists don't dare to in his search for answers. What he finds fills me with wonder as I consider its implications on our understanding of consciousness, nature, and beyond.

The research and content are 5/5. However, there were a few moments where I felt a bit disengaged with the writing which is why I give the book a 4/5. I listened to this in audiobook format, so perhaps that negatively impacted the reading experience.
