The Wind Weaver by Julie Johnson:⭐️⭐️⭐️✨3.5 Stars!🌶️Spice!

Summary: Rhya is a halfling which makes her a target but right before her death, an unwanted captor takes her to the Northlands. There Rhya learns about the maegic coursing through her. Penn, her captor, vows to keep her safe but the secrets are never ending & Rhya must master the maegic before it consumes her.

Review: I think this was a good first book in a series. It’s a lot of detail/information & world/character building but I didn’t mind it. It’s not overly packed with action, there were some slow parts, and it needed to be much shorter, but it does a good job setting up the series.

Rhya is the FMC and I’m not going to lie, she is pretty clueless when it comes to maegic but I don’t blame her bc no one told her anything her whole life 😆 I did like how she had some healing and bow & arrow knowledge but she didn’t stand out & at times acted immature. I did like her relationship with the side characters bc they brought comedic relief. Penn is the MMC and I didn’t love him, he too broody, standoffish, and rude bc he is never around & never makes an effort to help Rhya but claims he cares for her. I did enjoy when he finally started opening up to Rhya, but it never lasted long. This is a slow burn and it takes awhile for anything to happen but there is some tension and banter. However, I can’t help but wonder if Penn actually cares for Rhya or if it’s bc of other reasons. Their romance seems a little off so I’m hoping that comes together better in the second book as well as the spice. This book didn’t have spice which is fine, but I was a little surprised by that. However, I loved all the side characters, especially Soren! I am very curious about him! 👀

The ending was exactly what I wanted from this book bc the action was exceptional and I loved seeing Rhya come into her power! I enjoyed learning of the maegic system and the Remnants but I hope we get more explanations in the next book. Also, the beasts were fun but a little random! A lot of clues were left and I will continue the series! If you’re looking for a book with forced proximity & found family - The Wind Weaver is for you 🌬️
