The Rape of Nanking by Iris Chang

4.0

“Apparently some quirk in human nature allows even the most unspeakable acts of evil to become banal within minutes, provided only that they occur far enough away to pose no personal threat.”

How true it was then and how true it is now!

This is one of the most disturbing and terrifying history books I have read. I am ashamed to say that I had never heard of what happened in Nanking before I read this book. And my country neighbors China! How was this atrocity hidden for so long? I am just lost for words.
