I'd been wanting to read Persepolis for years, due to all the buzz. The buzz, incidentally, is in fact quite warranted. Satrapi lays out the history of the Islamic revolution, as experienced by a young girl (herself) in Iran, in a format that is easily read, makes the content easy to understand, and makes an impact. I was not well-versed in the history of the Islamic revolution, so this book helped to educate me about Iran's recent history.
It's a beautiful, simple, and elegant comic. I plan on seeking out the film adaptation.
