Burning Bright by Nick Petrie

4.0

Peter Ash meets his soulmate and kindred spirit, June, an investigative journalist. At the book’s opening June has been kidnapped by men posing as government agents but while in the car brawls with them, tases them, and escapes. She’s on the run. They meet in the treetops of the California redwoods when Peter while on walk about is chased up a tree by a supposedly extinct grizzly bear and sees a climbing rope leading up.

From that point forward it’s nonstop action as the two take the measure of each other and bond while eluding pursuers and figuring out the who, what, where, and why behind this frenzied quest. Of course it all goes back to family, greed, and an algorithm.

A strange ending with a job offer.
