I finally finished this precious book I felt like I was trying to savour for a bit longer. What a beautiful story wow. This is how you write really well-written characters. They were complex and real. This was a historical fiction so it’s not exactly real, but it is based on some real stories and recounting the Dakota War of 1862. This story explores so much from family trauma, to feelings of belonging, to seed-keeping and farming. Oh my heart warmed so much with the end of the book. I do wish there was a bit more written on what happened with Rosalie’s son but I feel like the book hinted to to what happened. Ah I hope to come back to this book
