The Fire Horse Girl by Kay Honeyman

5.0

Wow. I read this book straight through for 6 hours. It was so packed with emotions and actions and wisdom, and was so compelling that I just couldn't put it down.

Being a horse myself and Chinese descent, I relate to Jade Moon, ALOT. I too, have overactive dreams and is stubborn as hell. What she did was indeed very bold and brave. Its really too bad that she's not a real person! >_<

Mrs. Honeyman sure knows how to weave a story that will make you clench in sadness and anxiety. When Jade Moon had to gamble everything... wow, that was a tense moment. You can get overworried just from that, but Mrs. Honeyman handled that beautifully, a clear logic in all of the muck of anxieties.

I say the only shortcoming is that you would understand this novel alot better than if you come from an Asian family, So perhaps, if there was more an explanation (about the culture, how a family thinks, etc), the book would appeal to alot more readers as they don't understand the intricacies and the importance of a family. Not saying that she didn't try, but what I'm saying is that it is easily missed, and if easily missed, you miss the awesomeness of this book :P

I also wish the book didn't end! I really want to know what happened to Promise and Moon! Did they get married, did they fight, did they have kids? What happened t o the father and Nushi?

Overall: 5 stars! It touched me deeply!
