“Joy” was my first read by the immensely popular Danielle Steele but sadly I think it will be my last. Although the story was enjoyable enough, the repetitive narrative was frustrating, almost as if she was desperate to write a certain number of words so just repeated the sentences in different ways. All which amounted to the exact same thing - Allegra had an unloved  childhood and a father who loved and died for the military. 

If I thought Danielle’s earlier books were better I would consider reading but I’m not sure I want to take that risk.  “Joy” was an easygoing, gentle read which suits many readers, just unfortunately not for me.
