Annabelle and Lee by Danielle Allen
3.0

I've spent the past ten minutes, typing up things and then deleting it...and I just realized, I really don't want to write a review for this book, because I don't really have much to say. I went into this book super intrigued that it was inspired by the Annabel Lee poem by Edgard Allen Poe. The poem I only know about because Sam recited it in the movie Holes. But to be honest, this book didn't live up to the expectations I had of it.

It was the typical love story with a bit of a mysterious twist involving the death of a young woman. But even that storyline was a bit bland and not really that interesting or integral to the main story. Annabelle and Lee were childhood friends turned lovers who with distance and time, lost contact with one another. Moving into adulthood, they developed new friendships and moved on with their lives only to find their way back to one another.

There wasn't really anyting all that compelling or even interesting about their story. I didn't get punched in the feels, I didn't feel like these two HAD to find their way to one another. I enjoyed the story, as in I didn't hate read it, but all in all, it was just another story that I will likely forget about in the next month or so.
