I really had high hopes for this novel, mainly because I've never read a Star Wars book during the sequel era. I was super excited to see Luke and Lando back together on their own mission, and it was such a delight to catch a glimpse of Ben as a padawan ("Uncle Luke?"). BUT the show-stopper for me was experiencing Rey's and her parents' journey through this book. Te parts where I was most engaged in this story was when we are following Rey's parents throughout their wild and turbulent goose chase through the galaxy. I especially loved the familial bond between the three, and seeing the relationship between Dathan and Miriam. Unfortunately, the story itself falls flat for me. If you watched the movies, you would know that there really isn't an "ending" to any of the plots explored in this story. And because of that, the story felt like a long and winding road that leads to a dead end. The only thing that really kept me reading was seeing the characters that we all know and love, plus two more characters (Dathan and Miriam) figure out their ways throughout this book.
Moderate: Violence, Kidnapping
