John Marrs is one of my auto-buy authors, and so his books are ones I reach for when I need to get out of a slump. Unfortunately, this one missed the mark for me.
This novel is told from the POVs of three women - Margot, Liv, and Anna - all of whom I struggled to connect to. They were catty and unlikable with no redeeming qualities. Their voices all sounded similar, and I often had to flip back to the chapter title to remind myself whose POV I was reading from.
I found the timeline of events difficult to keep track of, but that may have been a me problem.
For having such short chapters, this was a slow burn, and while there were a couple of shocking reveals, for the most part, the shock factor was lacking. I'm left feeling underwhelmed, but I'm looking forward to what Marrs comes out with next.
