Argh. This book is ridiculous and I’m amazed I’m giving it three stars instead of one but bear with me.

First of all, I’ve never read a New Adult book before so I had no idea they were quite so... sexy. Not that I mind that, but I expected, well, more than this (see what I did there? 🙈). The underlying story here is basically that Kayla and Jake really want to have sex, and almost everything that happens comes back to that which is extremely obvious at all times and really quite annoying.

Also, oh my god why are they so jealous!? There were so many times I found Jake hard to like because he’s horribly, horribly jealous and unreasonable. In fact Kayla is sometimes too.

But beyond those huge, huge downsides there was something about this book that made me read it until the end. The story was actually tragic and interesting, but it could have been so much better. Why wasn’t there more of a mystery woven through it rather than the start of a mystery, loads of mush in between and then the end of a mystery in the last chapter?

Even though I basically hated it, I read it in a day which has massively helped me out of a reading slump and it’s so trashy it reminded me how great the books I normally read are.

I get why it has good ratings, it reads kinda like a fan fiction and everything it does is tailored to the hopeless romantic in their late teens that wants to find their Prince Charming. It’s so easy to read and very swoon-worthy. But this kinda thing is really not for me I’m afraid.
