History Is All You Left Me
by Adam Silvera
Adam Silvera is one of my favorite authors. His writing style is one of the most beautiful (without being complicated or too elaborate) understandable and engaging I've ever read. And it reminds me a lot of my own voice.
The way he depicted the slow burning ache of feeling someone you love forgetting you. It was heartbreak after heartbreak. It felt so real that for moments I had to stop reading and it just left me thinking about every single word I read. About how true they were, and how much they resonated in my own life. All the hurt and impotence. Jealousy and hatred. It was gut-wrenching and I couldn't help but live every single second of it.
I love the way he adds little facts throughout the novel that change your entire perspective and make you want to read it all over again.
I love how real his characters are.
I can't wait for his third novel to come out. Even though I know it will leave me in pieces as well.
And leaving this review in an odd number would be a disrespect to Griffin so I'll add one my favorite quotes: “The wound never closes and the pain remains, always piercing, always burning, always suffocating, always bleeding.”
