Point of Impact by Stephen Hunter

A thrilling and compelling novel. They keep trying to make it into a movie or video series but it doesn't "work" as well as the book - the interior dialogue/psychology of Swagger and other characters really makes the novel work. Plot is good, tightly written so it feels real. The description of shooting mechanics is compelling and helps the reader feel like we can comprehend the difficulty of the events in the book. Plot is improbable, but not in an entirely aggravating way. The bad guys are also just hate-able enough.
