Allison is a new to me author and I received an ARC copy of this book which I quite enjoyed.

The main characters meet at age 10 and start dating at age 16. After giving each other all of their firsts and staying together for 3 years, Cillian is drafted to the NHL and leaves Seattle and Isla to play in Boston. The separation tests their relationship and jealousy and need get in the way. Isla finds out she’s pregnant and when she calls Cillian to tell him she finds out he cheated on her. She has one last conversation with him when he seems out of it and she tells him she’s pregnant and then blocks him from her life.

5 years later and a daughter he doesn’t know about, Cillian is drafted to the new NHL team in Seattle and gets to move home. On his first day he runs into Isla as she works for his new team. She is cold to him and tries to keep her distance. Cillian show up at her apartment later at which time he finds out about his daughter. He is furious with Isla for not telling him she was pregnant but falls in love with his daughter immediately.

There is a lot of hurt and a lot of misunderstandings that Cillian and Isla are forced to overcome for the better of their daughter. Their love/hate relationship ends up giving them a second chance and I prayed throughout the whole book that they would live HEA as a family.

I am excited to see who’s story is next in this series.
