Seeing Gender: An Illustrated Guide to Identity and Expression
by Iris Gottlieb
informative
reflective
slow-paced
As a nonbinary human always searching for resources for those in my life, I thought this book was very well written. I found a lot of value in this book and I think it is a great educational tool. However, as a fat person I was disappointed at the use of dated terms to represent my community (“overweight”). I would have liked to have seen terms the fat community uses and accepts to describe our bodies. Otherwise I thought the book was thoughtful and well written, I especially enjoyed all of the illustrations.
Graphic: Eating disorder, Homophobia, Transphobia
