Second chance romance between a thief and the lover he betrayed while they run from dangerous people. Jonah was an asshole in the Magpie books, but it's a very different Jonah here. He's still sneaky and chaotic af, but more measured, with plenty of regrets. Ben used to be loyal and caring but is now rightfully bitter and resentful. Angst galore in their romance, with betrayal, secrets and so much pining. But Jonah is so determined to prove his love, he's willing to give up everything.

The many bumps really makes their romance precious, and I really felt so much for them both, especially Ben. I loved how Charles bought them back together, it's near perfect. At the heart of it, they're each other's person. Their character growth was lovely, too. And it's amusing to see Stephen and gang take on the 'baddie' role.
