Sting-Ray Afternoons by Steve Rushin
4.0

This memoir was a walk down nostalgia lane for me. This memoir is about Steve Rushin growing up in suburban Minnesota in the 1970's. While I'm a product of the late 70's, there was still a lot that spoke to me in this book. The wood paneled station wagon, cartoons on Saturday mornings with the siblings and a bowl of cereal, the wood paneled TV console, whole days spent outside with neighborhood friends, Wonder bread bags over your feet to keep them dry...these are my childhood memories! If you grew up in the 70's I highly recommend this book. Because the author grew up near me, I was attached to this book more than other readers may be. I knew events he was talking about, places he went, and memories he discussed. Truthfully, if I wasn't attached in that way, I may not have liked this book as much as I did. A quick, easy, fun way to walk down nostalgia lane!
