what a joy this was - tom felton i only love you more.
i thoroughly enjoyed this, but specifically the audiobook. once i started the audiobook, i could not read it alone. it did not feel like he was simply reading the words on the page, but rather telling us the story like it was his first time doing so. his little chuckles throughout had me giggling.
as we know, i love harry potter and i love film/theatre, so learning more about the ins and outs of the set of the series was so much fun. hearing about the characters we love - harry, ron, hermione, lucius, snape, dumbledore, mcgonagall, neville, even crabbe and goyle (and everyone else ofc), and their real life vs movie dynamic was very interesting.
knowing lucius was a bundle of sunshine irl and just switched into character made me giggle. also him greedily wanting more of his book lines to be implemented into the films - i get it though, book lucius was something elses.
mistaking GARY OLDMAN, our godfather, our sirius black, for a cleaner made me feel so very second hand embarrassed. nothing wrong with being a cleaner of course, but thats just not who our padfoot is.
emma and toms relationship is something ive always known to be sweet, but this only made me believe that they are friendship soulmates. they are the harry and hermione of the real world. i love them.
side note, great appreciation for dumbledore and draco ciggie sessions between sets.
the way tom explains his life and tells stories is truly captivating. i didnt find myself bored, or distracted at all. just wanted to hear more and listen to what else he had to say. somehow he has a way of maintaining privacy and personal things while giving us enough information to understand the full picture. he is also just so nice - his shit talking is even nice. i like that he has been able to acknowledge his own shortcomings and flaws throughout his life. if not, i think he would have been insufferable.
tom running away from rehab and finding his 3 kings, my gosh i got matthew perry x john mulaney vibes. it seems the funniest people tend to follow this drug/alcohol abuse path. its actually quite upsetting. the book did end up having a heavier twist during this part of his life, but that was expected and i am happy he included it. definitely gave more insight into his life, and his desire for normalcy and HIMSELF.
i 100% recommend reading this, even if youre not a big tom felton fan. theres enough harry potter information in here that you will find yourself entertained and giggling at all the things we never knew.
