One Plus One by Jojo Moyes
4.0

I am really loving everything Jojo Moyes writes! She doesn't seem to be formulaic in her writing, so each book is enjoyable because I'm not expecting the same old thing to happen each time.

This was a great story about a down on her luck single mom (Jess), her 8 year old math-whiz daughter (Tanzie), her bullied teenage stepson (Nicky), and a random wealthy, divorced, in trouble himself stranger (Ed) who somehow finds himself driving this odd little family and their ginormous, smelly, drooling dog to a math Olympiad in order for the daughter to win the funds to go to a specialized private school.

You come to feel so much for both Jess and Ed and you find yourself rooting for them all from the start. And I just want to hug Nicky and Tanzie.

The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because parts of it ran a little slow and became a little predictable. BUT... I loved this book. I really, really did.
