The Woman He Married by Julie N. Ford
4.0

Where do I even begin? This has to be one of my favourite contemporary reads ever. This book was so addictive and raw. Josie, a wife mother of three, is Alabama law royalty (her dad is “The Judge”), and married to John Bearden, who is running a campaign to be elected into public service. We start the story with a very broken, empty, and lifeless Josie, who is struggling with alcoholism and the disconnection with her husband. Long story short, John is a cheating butt, and it’s the typical “it’s-not-just-his-fault” situation. It was just like a season of Nashville, and Josie (my spirit animal) needs to find herself. The author just breathed so much light into these characters. I wish it was becoming a movie. However, I’m not a fan of the whole baby to save a marriage shenanigans, but I did find “The Woman He Married” to be an enjoyable read.

*****Please note: contains themes of infidelity and alcoholism*****
