the isle of sin & shadow gives us creepy southern ghost stories, satanic cults, the mexican cartel, a murder//mystery, and a slow burn romance; all beautifully woven together into an enchantingly dark story.

i always feel transported into the worlds keri lake creates and her stories read like a movie in my mind. does anyone remember that older movie the skeleton key? same creepy vibes here!! this book takes place on a southern lousisana island called chevalier isle where they speak a language called valir [which is a sub dialect of cajun french].

i loved how strong and fearless Cèleste is. the shit that she was seeing and the talk about the legit creepiest boogeyman had me really f*cking scared at times.
