I normally don’t rate books 5 stars, and especially not stuff written in first person. Maybe I’m biased because I always loved Haymitch, and seeing his story written out was just incredibly exciting for me from the get-go, but I couldn’t rate it any less <3
I loved the pacing, the drama, the characters and their development. I liked how it wasn’t afraid to be dark (fyi this is the first of the Hunger Games books I’ve read, I’ve only seen the movies SUE ME, so idk what the others are like) and how we finally got a look inside Haymitch’s head, even if he is a lot different from how we know him.
I’ll keep it spoiler free (potential content spoilers in the tags/cw), but just know it’s definitely worth the read, it had me audibly shocked, sad and stressed but honestly in the best way. Read it so fast and loved every word
