K.E. Andrews built a beautiful world. A book that takes a typically dark power, necromancy, and finds the beauty of death and loss in it. Mor is not a typical character. She is timid, a "gentle giant," and she is grieving. Grieving a world that does not accept her, grieving the loss of her protected life, and trying to find new ground in hope. I was amazed at the complexities of the characters and the world that Andrews built.

This book is not easy. I cried multiple times. But it is looking at what fantasy doesn't often look at - child loss, marriage,
pregnancy
. There are so many things that make the book so dynamic and interesting. It's well worth the read.
