A delightful cozy fantasy and romance! The story focuses on found-family and is filled with quirky & lovable side characters: eccentric inn guests, an enchanted fox, an undead skeleton rooster, and a magical inn, just to name a few.
There is good representation and discussions of autism, disability, mental health, immigration, and varied family structures. There is also casual queer acceptance with gay, lesbian, and non-binary side characters.
I found the magic system to be interesting! The magic is sort of alive in a unique way and works a little differently within each person.
While definitely a romance, there is a big focus on both main characters (dual POV) learning to love themselves and build the life that they want.
Note: set in the winter but you wouldn’t know from the cover.
