The Summer Book by Tove Jansson

2.0

Bit of a disappointment. The grandmother was much more curmudgeonly than I was expecting and the granddaughter was more annoying. I still liked some of the stories, like the one about the grandmother starting her own girl scout troop, or leaving the cabin stocked with stuff in case someone needed to stay there over the winter. I did love the setting, it really reminded me of the San Juans, a wet island even in the summer. I guess I was hoping for it to be less Scandinavian-ly cold and more whimsical.
