I wish so badly that C.L. Wilson would write more books. Please don't let these absolutely terrible 1983 covers away you from reading these books. They're so wonderful. The characters are so easy to love, the fantasy and world building are delightful. I read Tairen Soul last fall and didn't even realize she'd published other books. This one wasn't as good as TS, but for a stand-alone fantasy book it's still a 5-star read. It's just that TS is like, a 7-star read lol.
The winter king (aptly named Wynter) was so amazing.. I loved how she wrote him and I loved how she wrote Khamsin, his "unwilling" bride. I loved the family strife and the court intrigue and the magic. Truly wonderful, as per usual. I wish C. L.'s books got more hype.
