The Trial of Roger Casement by Fionnuala Doran

challenging dark inspiring reflective fast-paced

4.25

Not for the uninformed on Irish history — which perhaps accounts for some lower reviews — this account of Casement's life and trial is gripping, well-illustrated, and highly affecting, ending with his most famous speech. It makes no secrets about his diaries, as well, and the sentiments on Irish nationalism ring as true today as any.
