Mister Moneybags by Penelope Ward, Vi Keeland
4.0

Bianca meets Dex when an elevator breaks down in his building. After telling him she is a reporter on her up way to interview the reclusive "Mister Moneybags" Dexter Truitt, implying that Dex is a crabby, money-hungry villain, Dex decides to pretend to be a lowly bike messenger, allowing him to get to know her better without her preconceived bias against him.

What follows is a clever mistaken-identity story that blends a physical insta-lust between Bianca and "Jay" the bike messenger, and a growing epistolary romance via text/email between Dex and Bianca as she comes to know the real Dex while interviewing him via increasingly personal messages over the course of some weeks.

Obviously there is the moment when Bianca realises that the two men she likes are actually one and the same. Because of events in her past, she doesn't take well to deceit. Poor Dex knows he's made a stupid decision by lying to Bianca and is so grateful, he resolves to be completely honest and open when she does finally forgive him.

Dex is so gone for Bianca it's really sweet. He is determined to take things slowly with her after she agrees to give him another chance, and things are looking up. This could have been the HEA ending, but there is then a huge bomb dropped that risks their future together, creating angst that is so heartbreaking it seems difficult to believe things will work out. Luckily, this is romance, so HEAs are guaranteed
