i seem to be a minority here, but can't spell treason without tea didn't do it for me: overall, it's just been a big "it's fine." (even answering whether or not the characters were lovable felt like saying "sure." they weren't not lovable, i guess, you know?) the characters didn't feel particularly deep, and weren't particularly engaging. thorne technically gives them development on paper, but it feels overly blunt and spelled out, and i didn't buy in. the whole thing felt very flat and colorless.
i love a cozy, sapphic fantasy, and opening a book and tea shop is a dream of mine too, but this one didn't do anything for me. a lot of people have gotten a lot out of these books, and i'm sincerely happy both that they've been able to and that thorne has been able to create this space. i just don't think it's one for me, and that's okay!
