City of Blades by Robert Jackson Bennett

4.0

Wow, Mulaghesh is one of the strongest characters I have ever seen. She is the best part of this book, and I considered giving this 5 stars for her alone. it continues with the mesh of genres that the first book had, as it is a mystery novel set in a fantasy world. My main complaint was that it started off really slow and took me 150 pages to get into it. The rest of it was great though, and I especially loved the conclusion. Apart from Mulaghesh, I loved seeing Sigrud again and meeting Signe, one of the most capable people around. There are some frustratingly stupid characters, but I could understand their intentions for the most part. This book is basically about war, there are multiple references to a previous horror that Mulaghesh lived through, and there is a constant discussion on what it means to be a soldier.
