This is a really great book. I learned a lot about the exploitation of Black people in Brazil. The book also covered the spiritual traditions of Black people in Brazil, and that was fascinating.

There is a lot of blood in the first scene where
one kid cuts her tongue and another kid slices her tongue off altogether.
I found it hard to get through that part, but I'm glad I kept going.

I really loved the scenes showing JarĂȘ, one of the spiritual practices of Black people in Brazil.
