First of all, yes, this does have similarities to Harry Potter. But there are plenty of books within the same genres that share tropes etc. Overall, it really didn't bother me. Second of all, a protagonist who lives with a chronic injury? As a wannabe wizard with a bad hip, I say heck yes! This is a solid start to the series, but it definitely feels like things aren't as fleshed out as they could be. I'm sure the next books will build on what we have though.
