This is the first fantasy book I've ever finished and I honestly loved it. It took me a long time to read but once I got to around halfway I flew through it. I can't even articulate the emotions this book made me feel
I trusted the Darkling way too easily and he betrayed me so much. I loved Mal at the beginning but since he wasn't showing much interest in Alina I kinda stopped liking him as much. But that changed very quickly once he came back into the picture and I fell in love with him. If Mal had died this book would've probably been rated lower. Mal is so precious. The Darkling better be gone and fully defeated soon.

this is the sweetest quote i've read in a long time
I missed you every hour. And you know what the worst part was? It caught me completely by surprise. I'd catch myself walking around to find you, not for any reason, just out of habit, because I'd seen something that I wanted to tell you about or because I wanted to hear your voice. And then I'd realize that you weren't there anymore, and every time, every single time, it was like having the wind knocked out of me. I've walked half the length of Ravka for you, just to starve with you and freeze with you and hear you complain about hard cheese every day. So don't tell me we don't belong together. I'm sorry it took me so long to see you, Alina. But I see you now
