Significantly better than the first book in terms of pacing, but still left much to be desired. The multiple storylines helped a lot in keeping me hooked. The start however felt weird still. Either it was high stakes everyone could die action or absolute mind numbing dullness. Although, this problem dissipated as the book progressed, thankfully!

I am still not as attached to the main characters as I should be ~900 pages through a series, but the side characters continued to hold my interest as they developed.

One issue, there were FAR TOO MANY typos and errors in this book. There was a paragraph in which Kjellrunn and Kristofine had swapped places on the map!! And there were ‘two’s when there should have been ‘the’s and other things that really are disappointing to see in the second book a commercially published series!!
