The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow

5.0

I really liked this one. From the simple (genius) concept, of "What if suffragettes, but also witches", through to a book with heart, danger, storytelling, myth, legend, and revolution. For me the strengths are the striking characters and the emotion they drive as the book moves towards conclusion. Every character here is so well defined, they have lives and motives moving beyond the main story, and this meant I really cared.

It's not for everyone I think, if you like your analogies to the modern day to be subtle for example, but it really worked for me.
