SYLO by D.J. MacHale

I had two reasons for reading this book--1) to determine if all students in my middle school could read it and 2) it has been nominated as a SC Junior Book Award Nominee for the 2015 - 2016 school. So, I was a little reluctant to read it as it didn't seem to be my cup of tea.

Regardless, it was a good book. Furthermore, I am definitely considering purchasing the remainder of the series for next school year. While the book started a bit slow, it was non-stop, nail-biting action by the end. Of course, the story ends with more questions than answers.

I did think some parts of this story were violent, but no more so than the "Hunger Games" trilogy. And, unlike many of the dystopian stories currently out, this story is told primarily from a guy's point of view.
