Surprisingly enjoyable! I wasn’t expecting much from a book I got for a buck at a yard sale, especially one I would never have purchased full price. It’s outside of my preferred genres, but I really enjoyed it. I liked most of the characters and felt righteous fury when Zott wasn’t treated fairly and assumed to be stupid or slutty because she’s a determined woman in a male dominated field in the 60’s. </spoilers> it’s so terrible that this still happens today. I’m happy that Zott’s show was a success, she got her lab job back, and everybody who pissed me off got what was coming for them. A little slow moving, I honestly expected the cooking show to start off right away (knowing nothing about the book) but I didn’t mind the build up and seeing the relationships between the characters grow.
