The Ouchiest Words is the second book in the delightful children's series showcasing Nari and her experiences and how she handles them. These stories are based off of the author's experiences and her message is one kids need to hear.
"I hope we can all learn from Nari and let no one define our beauty, our worth, and whether we belong in America."
I'm this segment, Nari is bullied because of her ethnicity. Zack is a bully and he loves making her feel bad and doesn't care that he hurts her. Nari tells her mom and her mom says it best...that only Nari can decide whether Zach's words hurt her. Eventually, Nari decides she is fine the way she is and stands up to Zach.
Bullying is something that will never go away. Equipping children at a young age with how to handle it is essential. I love how Nari doesn't just accept Zach's words, even though they hurt her. She talks to family and friends but ultimately decides herself that she is perfect.
This, and also the previous book - The Yuckiest Lunch Box - are great and I highly recommend for those little ones. I sincerely appreciate the publisher for providing me with a review copy. All opinions expressed herein are mine and mine alone.
