there's a main character who doesn't do anything--her magic necklace just fixes everything, a journey that has a feeble reason for starting as any, a lot of unexplained monsters, and a love interest that has no love or interest happen. Better books if you read the blurb and think this is your thing: percy jackson. no seriously, although it in no way sounds similar, this book was a bad percy jackson story. If you read the blurb and actually want to discover a similar story, try the watching "Empress in the Palace" on Netflix.
I cannot believe this was published because even the writing was terrible. so many things were described as "the color of wet sand." My bathroom was broken and I didn't want to leave the house without showering otherwise I don't think I would've finished reading this.
