Overall: that ending has such Clockwork Princess' epilogue vibes.

Even though I liked this book and the whole series, I must admit that the plot was lacking at some points. Sometimes the story felt all over the place, especially in this book.
Throughout the series, the "villain" figure has been too abstract. In the first book, we had the Republic's system. Then in Prodigy, we continue with the Republic and the Revolution. In this book, we had the plague and the war between the Republic and the Colonies (I guess things come full circle in the end). But, we didn't have a real character to be marked as the villain. We had some antagonists like Commander Jameson and Thomas, but they felt so weak as the bad guys.
In the end, both the plague and the war with the Colonies' plots felt incomplete. The plague-plot was still too weak, even though the author tried to bring back its seriousness. Sadly, after neglecting this thread for so long in the previous book, it no longer held the same impact. Also, I feel like the main characters came out with the solution for the plague in a very convenient way, again.
On the other hand, A common thing for war books is that they always end up being more about the anticipation than the battle itself. The main characters spend most of the book trying to prevent the war or preparing for the Colonies' attack. It felt like they were doing all these things but ended up doing nothing till the final chapters. And, just like with the plague, they solved the war plot too easily and poorly explained.
Finally, I'm forever in love with both June and Day. They're the coolest. And the only relevant characters for me (except maybe for Anden). In the end, Legend simply was June and Day's story.
