Paul Revere's Ride by David Hackett Fischer

5.0

A thoughtful, well-organized, and thoroughly researched discussion of revolutionary Massachusetts. Fischer's style is exciting; he tells the story of Paul Revere and Thomas Gage as the dramatic narrative that it is, managing to flesh things out in great detail without getting distracted or hard to follow. More than the story of the principal characters, however, Fischer describes the collective movement of resistance in Massachusetts. He describes a resistance and revolution that is not built or centered around one person, but an organized, cohesive society of people actively building solidarity with one another. Ultimately, "Paul Revere's Ride" is an excellent, readable choice for anyone interested in revolutionary America.
