The premise of the book was really good, but was not well executed. Technically a Star Trek Next Gen book, the author does not capture the voice of the characters, especially Data and Picard. Many mistakes such as calling turbo lifts elevators or having Geordi call Dr Chrusher “Beverly” in a professional situation. 

Would not recommend.
