I have a lot of feelings, mostly about this book winning Book of the Month’s book of the year for 2022. I didn’t think it was a bad story, but I thought it was mostly dull. There was a lot of drama that I was genuinely disinterested in, but there were also powerful notions made that deserve the credit. I wish I could give this book 5 stars, but it was lacking in some areas I can’t quite put my finger on.
