A sapphic western that takes place in the 1850s? Yes, please! This was unexpected and really entertaining. Some of the historical references are questionable, but if you don't think too hard on them, you can have a good time with this book. (For instance, one of the characters gives a child $2 to spend on toys at the market. That's equivalent to a little more than $80 in 2025, so that seems highly unlikely.) I was leaning toward 3.5 stars, but gave it a bump to 4 based on entertainment value and uniqueness.
