This insight into George Takei's experience in the Japanese Internment Camps should be read by everyone. It is a powerful narrative and a glimpse into what life was like for those imprisoned back in the 1940s. Most of us will never know what this is like. Takei tells of how history like this isn't shown, and therefore repeats itself, and it really needs repeating in today's society with the incarceration and imprisonment of innocent civilians in Alligator Alcatraz at the hands of the president. History is repeating itself right now because pieces of history like this remain mostly unknown, or widely forgotten by a majority of the population, especially by those who were so far removed from it that they had the luxury of turning a blind eye, just like they do now. Now, more than ever, we should be reading books like this one.
