The Secret History by Donna Tartt

DNFed 20% in. The mystery of the group isn't grabbing me, and I'm not connecting to or intrigued by any of the characters. The hook that's been thrown regarding the mystery seems like the payoff won't be worth the journey, given what we know from the beginning. It's toeing the line between reasonable assholeness and "edgy" assholeness for the sake of it that a lot of literary authors think makes their books the bees knees. I can see that it's doing the slow gothic atmosphere well but it takes a specific execution for me to like it and this isn't it. The author is very good as the audiobook narrator.
