The Evening and the Morning by Ken Follett

2.0

I honestly don't know why I continued reading this to completion. About 150 pages in, I was annoyed by the writing, characterization, and conflict--they were so superficial and thin. The writing seemed so juvenile, and when I finished it last night, I feel like there was a marked difference in the style (or maybe I was just used to it 700 pages in); the sentences were longer and more fluid. I got tired of the constant black and white opinions everyone had in the book, I think I was too far in to put it aside. So it's done now and I won't be picking up any other titles in the series. I heard a miniseries is being made of this title, god help us.
